Lakesha Cole is a mom, military spouse, business owner, author and mentor. With experience in retailing and home-based business start-up, Lakesha self-published her first book, Mommy Retailing, this year to help mom’s discover how to use their passions, interests, experience, and training to start a retail business.
She is the CEO and owner of She Swank Too, a curated shop for girls featuring a selection of imaginative clothing and accessories that embrace the innocence and fun of childhood. Her dream to reality of owning a business started as an idea seven years ago while sitting in her tiny California apartment, unemployed with a three-year-old, a deployed Marine spouse and all of her family 2,000+ miles away. Today the She Swank Too brand has traveled to customers in all 50 states and four countries.
Lakesha is the 2014 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year®. She was selected for her entrepreneurial prowess, volunteer efforts and personal sacrifice. Due to her efforts to support the military community the 35th Commandant of the Marine Corps, General James Amos, awarded her with a Certificate of Commendation.
She is an alumni of the Military Entrepreneur Program by Inc. She was featured on The Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda and is published in Military Spouse. Lakesha and her family were featured by Ebony as one of the “Coolest Black Families in America.”
Lakesha holds a B.A in Print Journalism from North Carolina A&T State University and an A.A.S. in Fashion Marketing from Parsons The New School For Design.
