Title:Great Weekend!
Posted On:September 7, 2010, 11:15 AM
Listing Detail

Man, I had a fabuloso weekend. I got to see Saving Abel AND BILLY IDOL in concert! Billy Idol rocked. He sounds just the same. And he played a lot of old school shit from the Rebel Yell album which made me happy cuz I knew every note and word of every song on there. (I already wrote about Saving Abel, but I didn’t say anything about their music. I really love their music and because they were at the smaller stage, I got to get right up there close & personal. They are definitely a high energy act)

Over 3 days I did exactly jack. shit. I should have mowed yesterday but Mother Nature threw some sprinkles at me and that right there was enough to encourage me to continue being a lazy slob. I only got motivated enough to do a little laundry. Yes, I really enjoyed my 3 day weekend!

One weird thing…I ran into a coworker on Saturday evening before the Saving Abel concert. I do not socialize with my coworkers. They all live down there, I live up here, and to be honest, I don’t have any sort of personal relationship with any of them but my work wife and the insurance girl. That’s it. So of course I am cruising through the area looking for my buddy and her sister when I hear my name shouted. I knew it was someone I worked with cuz no one else would be there. I kept on walking. On the way back I ended up face-to-face with this guy and had no way to avoid him. “Did you call out my name earlier?”

This guy was fucking TANKED. That was a totally awkward conversation. Oh, did I mention that this is the guy who loved that little deer I hit a few years ago? Yeah, ummm, the deer was the neighborhood “pet” and he was a few cars behind me when the deer committed suicide on my car. So of course he had to bring that shit up. Let it go, man! I escaped as quickly as I could and when I hooked up with my friends, moved as far away from him as possible.

Thank goodness I didn’t spot anyone the next night. That would have put me off any fun stuff down there in IL for the rest of my life, I swear.

Alrighty, I’m off to shower and get ready to face those evil-cruel numbers that I crunch every day. Ya’ll be cool and I hope you had a lovely and relaxing Labor Day weekend!

Some of you on Facebook and Twitter know of my adventures last night. I don’t want to get into it on here because it’s more about the wounded Marine and Saving Abel. I just have to say, I take great pleasure in knowing there are good men and women out there who support our troops. Even taking a tiny bit of their time to do something nice and wonderful for a stranger who is recovering from injuries. The band Saving Abel puts their money where their mouths are. Just good eggs. And to do my part, please, go out and buy this album. Saving Abel’s Miss America. Any money that they make getting popular and huge and in the process, becoming super rockstars, they deserve it for taking time to go entertain our troops and by reminding their audience to thank those who serve.

Ok, I found this and had to scroll through all the characters. It was weird cuz I recognized almost all of them in the first row (the 50s) and fewer in the following years. I couldn’t figure out why I knew all of those so well. Until I got to the 1977 Laff-a-Lympics.

Anyway, most of ya’ll will get a giggle out of seeing all those names and characters. Check it out.

Title:I Know a Dad….
Posted On:September 2, 2010, 19:23 PM
Listing Detail

So I read this
article
and it reminded me of something.

My ex BIL is in a custody battle with his Baby Mama. See, she lives
in a town south of us with shitty schools and a high criminal element.
He lives in my town. He wants Jr to go to our school district (which
I highly recommend, btw), and she wants Jr to go down there.

My ex BIL is a bit of an ass. He is juvenile and he’s the one who is
dating an 18 year old girl. He’s like 35 or so. Anyway, to prove
he’s a “good dad” and deserves to choose the school district, he got
personalized license plates with his and his son’s name on it.

Really?

That’s the best you could do??

I know he sends his son over to my ex MIL’s house (she lives right
across the street, right) and he’s not really a GREAT dad. I concur
with him that the boy should go to school here, but not because he’s a
good dad but because the boy will get a better education.

Anyway, just wanted to share that supid moment and the thoughts that
some parents have when they are trying to influence the family courts.
